22 Feb 2023: Community Map Scotland: Map your Local Place Plan.

On Friday 10 February, the Improvement Service (‘the “go-to” organisation for Local Government improvement in Scotland) hosted a webinar for community councillors across the country to learn more about Community Map Scotland. This is a spatial-mapping tool adapted from one widely-used in England and Wales, now on offer to Community Councils here on a free-to-use basis for 12 months.

If you have ideas and visions for your neighbourhood or community, in a formal planning context, in dialogue with developers, in conversation with the Council or just in talking to community groups, you can build them into high-quality, highly-detailed maps. Your Community Council could build its own Local Place Plan.

If you have the people willing to get into the detail on how to use geographic information systems, then you should take a look at this one. There might be something in it for you.
